Tropical Freeze

Our country is now geared to an arms economy bred
in an artificially induced psychosis of war
hysteria and an incessant propaganda of fear

--General Douglas MacArthur

A recent AP poll shows 62% of Americans feel the U.S. "Should reestablish deplomatic ties" with Cuba. If the U.S. can be in bed with Communist China, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Vietnam and untold other non-democratic entities, then what sense does it make to freeze out Cuba? After 40 years, this policy has proven a loser.

If the U.S. can sell nuclear weapons capable technology to India, then it would seem that selling staple goods to Cuba would be appropriate.

The policies of the U.S. are wrong-headed and contradictory. But Bush and Rice are more concerned with Shia/Sunni squabbles than the realities in our own hemisphere.

Let's secure our perimeter, then work out.

As an afterthought, we could then outsource torture at Gitmo to Castro forces. This would certainly save on travel costs to Syria, if nothing else.

Private property is God in America (see Haymarket Riot). This makes Communism and Socialism the Devil. In the village of Granville where I live there was a street named Equality Street from 1804 till 1883 when the name was changed to Elm Street.

Well, as we know, all Elms are considered equal.
