Now You See 'Em, Now You Don't

____________

The small print, for those who lack x-ray vision:

"A medicare approved PPO available to anyone enrolled in both Part A and Part B of Medicare through age or disability who continues to pay Medicare applicable premiums if not otherwise paid under Medicaid or by another third-party. Copayment, service area, and benefit limitations may apply.

*You may use a non-network doctor, specialist or hospital but may have to pay higher costs.

**These programs are not offered nor guaranteed under our contract with the Medicare program. In addition, they are not subject to the Medicare appeals process. Any disputes regarding these programs may be subject to the Humana grievance process.''

''Attention Vets Eligible for Medicare''--the ad caught my eye. It sounds great, until you read the double asterisk: ''These programs are not offered nor guaranteed under our contract with the Medicare program.'' In addition, they are not subject to the Medicare appeals process.

Ahem. . .then why, pray tell, is this being offered under the auspices of Medicare eligibility?

These people can't even write a disclaimer that this vet can understand. What does ''may be subject'' mean? Certainly sounds like a bunch of gobbledegook, par for the legal course laid out by the legal cutting crew which aids and abets those in this current administration of obfuscation.

This sure sounds like something a vet needs. Another program where grievances are resolved by money-grubbing bureaucrats.

Sign me up.
