RANGER AGAINST WAR: Don't Go There <

Don't Go There

--Ollie Johansson, Sweden

It’s naïve for us to think that
we can grow our nuclear stockpiles,

the Russians continue to grow
their nuclear stockpiles,

and our allies grow their nuclear stockpiles,

and that in that environment
we’re
going to be able to pressure
countries
like Iran and North Korea

not to pursue nuclear weapons themselves

--President Obama
___________

The above quote sounds good, but it doesn't jibe with the words from the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen, who said Tuesday a military strike to thwart Iran's nuclear weapons capability remains on the table. Flush with victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is easy to see why our leaders might feel it is time to translate those successes into another elective war.

However, Mullen diluted the statement somewhat by saying he would "worry a great deal about the response of a country that gets struck."
He said, "It is a really important place to not go, if we can not go there in any way, shape or form (Joint Chiefs Chairman: Strike on Iran Remains Option)." We think the way you do that is to not go there in any way, shape or form.

Though the U.S. has a new F Troop Commander, we are still getting the same old rhetoric about elective attack options on Iran. Obama is a funambulist, who says do as I say, not as I do. But when you are the President, you cannot afford that schism in thought. It is or it isn't.

Facing such a possibility, it is obvious why Iran is so keen on acquiring nuclear weapons.
Factor in Joe Biden, who recently gave Israel the green light to bomb Iran, and we must ask: Is it that our leaders lose their grasp on reality after assuming office, or was the deficit always there?

Irresponsible rhetoric like "military options are on the table" are not reality-based. More helpful would be an announcement that we will destroy half of our weapons stockpile. Then the U.S. could operate from a position of moral leadership on the topic. Condemning any nation for wanting nuclear weapons is hypocritical while standing on the world's largest inventory of useless nukes.

What is America about? Why is Iran our unilateral responsibility. Same-same North Korea.

one of the maddening things about this whole issue is the way people always start off with the unchallengable premise that "a nuclear iran is unacceptable."

why? more unacceptable than nuclear india, china, pakistan (the fooking pakis fer cryin' out loud), isreal, france, us, the russians (who have already scattered loose nukes all over the bleeding place when their economy was in the shitter for 15 years and the stewards of those weapons needed ready cash).

should iran wish to squander vast sums of money on nuclear production, let them go right the fuck ahead. as soon as they sucessfully test their first bomb, the president should invite who ever is in charge there to the white house. go nuts, throw them a big ass dinner, let them sit at the grownups table (which is really all they want).

at some point during the dinner the president leans over and tells who ever is representing iran, "welcome to the nuclear club, these are the rules, if you ever, for any reason, use them, i will incinerate your entire nation. i will burn your shit down so bad that weeds won't grow for a thousand years. welcome to the club asshole."

until they can come up with an alternative policy that doesn't involve starting another war in a faraway place against people we don't understand, a nuclear iran is a better outcome for us all.

MB,

the way people always start off with the unchallengeable premise that "a nuclear iran is unacceptable."

AMEN brother!

Someday I would like the talking heads to provide a cogent and truthful discussion about exactly "WHY?" Iran may be pursuing a nuclear weapons capability. And using the rules of the whole world as laid down in the NPT to do so.

But, in the William the Bloody saturated MSM environment, this will never occur.

Personally, I think if Iran were to make it to the same place as Pakistan, India -- and yes, North Korea -- then the region might actually simmer down a bit.

And for the group, is it not time for Admiral Mike to Just.Shut.The.F*ck.Up? Seriously. He might be mighty and powerful in the uniformed world. But he still is simply the uniformed lackey of the government and not entitled to giving any opinions. Just like the rest of the military (as they so often want to say about the young trooper who complains about DADT or even how shitty the Halliburton service contract is).

Personally, I think Admiral Mike has been borderline contemptuous and insubordinate for months now. If he feels free to talk because he's been ordered to, then shame on Gates and Obama. But, if he is just wandering around spouting off -- then 2x shame on Gates and Obama!

Jus saying,

SP

I will personally fly the bomber to Iran and drop the bomb on the nuclear weapons stockpile. Let me be clear: I will myself actually do it.

Otherwise, ranger, keep doing the lord's work as you always do in your own "special" way!

sincerely,

QFT!!!!!

MB has summated my feelings precisely.

Ghost is able to do this, but as soon as I think the appropriate song here is from Metallia...
King Nothing

"I wish I may
I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonight
I want that staff
I want it now
I want it all and I don't care how

Careful what you wish
Careful what you say
Careful what you wish
You may regret it
Careful what you wish
You just might get it"

Keith or RARAW,
For you to drop anything on Iran you'd have to have the balls to join the military and somehow i believe the Iranians are safe from your ministrations.
Talk is fucking cheap.
I've done violence for America and won't discuss it.

As I type this, I am getting ready to ship out to Afghanistan with my Navy SEALS unit. Enjoy your Budweiser and potato chips, ranger, while the rest of us keep you safe.

I think this is completely uncalled for, and to further that...you are not making me any safer than I am right now.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but if you wanted to "keep me safe" you would have gotten a Law Degree and worked for the Justice Department bringing charges against the Bush Administration officials who started this nonsense.

/sigh
Be that as it may, it saddens me to see a perfectly good tool go to waste by an inexperienced carpenter who has no clue as to how it is to be used.

My hope is that you come back in one piece, but my prayer to G-d is that you come back a wiser man than the foolish boy who is leaving now.
