Running Down a Dream

If I listened long enough to you
I’d find a way to believe that it’s all true

Faisal Shahzad, the New York Times Square bombing ace (not) was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for being a total failure as a Jihadist bomber (Times Square bomber sentenced, warns of more Attacks.)

His scare comments are not worthy of comment ("Brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun. Consider me the first droplet of the blood that will follow"), for if he is the first impotent droplet of blood, we haven't much to fear. His training and operation skills were in the minus figures, and he is a joke, were anyone in the laughing mood.

However, it is U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum's comments that deserve censure.

Cederbaum gave a Judge Judy performance, saying "I do hope you will spend some of the time in prison thinking carefully about whether the Quran wants you to kill lots of people." Her directive was totally inappropriate in a legal setting.

Cederbaum's moral directive plays right into the Jihadist propagandists. Shahzad was not on trial for a faulty interpretation of the Koran, but rather for attempting to set off a bomb in Times Square -- a criminal act. The judge's comment is straight from the Hollywood playbook, and confirms to the world that the Phony War on Terror (PWOT ©) and the US Judicial system is engaged in religious warfare and persecution of Islamist beliefs.

Cederbaum's statement shoved Judeo-Christian values down the defendant's throat and it will come back to haunt us somewhere down the line. It was unnecessary inflammatory rhetoric. The US judicial system works quite well sans the intrusion of religious edicts. We fail when we forget our most basic tenets.

The real war is over nothing less than the survival of our precious democratic values. When we lose those, THEY have won.

Yeah -- just what IS this with everyone proselytizing these days?
'Taint no religion gonna save us, but adherence to our logos, The Constitution.

(I'd like to know where you hang out, G.D. Your musical repertoire never fails to awe.)

On the 'Times Square' bomber,,,

I assume if the guy was in Chinese hands, he might last a couple days at most.

He would be shot in the head, and then his kidneys/liver would be sold too a westerner for a heafty price tag, I think 3 kidneys will buy a Rolls Royce, but don't quote me on that.

But not us,,, we're gonna feed and house him for some reason which is beyond my comprehension

Anon, oct 11,
Since you admire the Chinese then why not move there?
The Chinese no longer harvest organs from executed prisoners.
What perversion of law would you support that would put a man to death simply for his intention to kill.He was guilty of attempting to bomb and kill Americans.
Do you mean that we should criminalize intentions with a death sentence??!!
Would you have the stones to put a pistol round in his neck?
I bet not.

Jim,

What the hell do you know of my stones??? Why do you attest any knowledge of my stones???

On moving too China,,, I won't have too since they will own us soon enough for the likes of splurging on things such as 3 meals per day for life, for a piece of shit wanna-be bomber that has a Koran stuck up his ass.

Where do you see the perversion??? I ask you if a burgler were trying to break into your house, wouldn't you blow his brain out??? It's part of the price one pays for the trade/occupation they choose too have. If you had died being a ranger, would you be perplexed???

I promise I would certainly have more stones needed too end the life of that wanna-be piece of shit, and would be doing a service too my country in doing so.

I would also be willing to ship him too the Chinese, since what's the difference??? That's all one can buy in this country anymore is Chinese goods; why not send them some raw materials, so they can sell it back too us, for all the kings horses and all the kings men can't figure out how too do manufacturing again,,,

You certainly 'drank the wrong milkshake' on this one buddy,,,

Go figure.

Anon, 14 oct.
I've drank my fair share of wrong milkshakes.Indeed.
My question about stones was neutral and rhetorical. I DID NOT imply in either direction, and if i did so then that was NOT my intention.
I do not try to alienate readers unless they are obnoxious, and you clearly are being appropriate.
The problem is just so great that words cannot resolve the issue. The issues that you touch upon are political/criminology/societal/medical/religeon/terrorism /philosophical/ psychology/ warfare and we won't resolve them on a simple blog. Our society and leaders have been unable to integrate these elements into a viable system, and we as individuals can only react with the frustration that hounds both of us.
I like a T was willing to die for my actions.
I would kill to defend myself or my home, but this is not pertinent to the issue at hand. Surely i wouldn't have the right to kill in self defense AFTER the criminal was arrested. This is what you are advocating.
Thanks for participating.

Jim,

If you were in fact in combat as a ranger, wasn't it your 'job' to kill the 'combatants'? Wasn't the deal 'if you didn't kill them, they were gonna kill you'? Wasn't the 'intent' reason enough too kill them for they were surely gonna kill you? The End,,, the end of your life or theirs.

Well what gives the 'pass' too the wanna-be bomber on this one? The happenstance that the bomb didn't go off? His intent was surely too kill your American ass, or your American kid's ass, or your American grand daddy's ass, or your American kid's baby's ass; for as long as it was American then mission accomplished.

To restate my previous premise, if one chooses to play 'Russian Roulette', one might wanna say their 'good-byes' before playing.

Obviously the judge didn't have the 'stones' too pull the trigger; obviously I wasn't the judge.

Send him to China, I promise I don't give a f**k what happens too him as long as he is neutralized with death for his intentions. Let him 'see' if he gets his virgins,,,

Perhaps, hopefully, he will 'conveniently' die in prison. Wink, wink, nod, nod, case closed.
