The Schoomaker Show

The budget should be balanced. Public debt should be reduced. The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered, and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt
--Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 - 43 B.C.E.)

Lieutenant General Kiley has hit the road and Walter Reed is on the mend. Or is it? What's really happening behind the scenes? Here is what Ranger surmises about the internal Army politics:

  1. Army Chief of Staff Schoomaker is about to retire (again).
  2. LTG Kiley was the Surgeon General. In other words, he occupied the only 3-Star billet in the Army force structure.
  3. Major General Schoomaker is a 2-Star and can't be promoted because the Surgeon General slot is occupied.
  4. Solution to #3--get rid of Kiley, allowing Schoomaker to get promoted before Big Brother loses his ability to influence the selection board.

Ranger doesn't believe that this was a manufactured crisis, but it was played on the bounce to benefit the ever-faithful Army Chief of Staff.

It will be interesting to watch the show.

Lurch,

Jim says there are two Schoomakers. One is Major General Medial Services Corps type, and one is a General-SOF-type, Chief of Staff.

My contention is that the Maj. Gen. is being groomed for the Surgeon General slot of the U.S. Army. With the complicity of big brother.

Their mom should be proud.
