If You've Made it this Far. . .

Today Ranger received an announcement concerning Department of Veterans Affairs Flu vaccination availability for this flu season, "from November 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008."

And why did they send this after the flu season is in full swing? Why not prior to the 1 Nov. 07 advent of the season? News flash: old farts need their shots before the flu season starts.

Further note: the VA health system is touted as a spectacular example of expeditious health care in our country.

Hey, Ranger, I went to the local US Naval hospital and got my shot in early November. In and out in five minutes. No charge. My wife, who sometimes forgets things, paid something like $25 at the medical clinic where we go under Tricare.

You're right about us old farts needing to take care of ourselves. Taking care of yourself might include not waiting for VA, but checking out what a military facility has to offer.

Here's what I've learned about the military facilities: free flu shot. Also, free glasses, although only with birth control frames. Plus prescriptions without the co-pay. You don't get much anymore, but you can get some things. Check those boys out.

A dollar saved is a dollar earned...
