sometimes i perversely think that divided, maybe even hopelessly divided government is the only way to go. if there is a dem in the white house, we need a solid opposition or a narrow majority in the house so that filibusters and other procedural tools are not lost.

after viewing bush's first six years when he had congress solid behind him i'm thinking gridlock is preferable to them being able to do anything.

but, i'm a documented attitude case.
