Canadian reader tw sent us the above photo on Veteran's day with the following description:
In Canada they call Veterans Day, Remembrance Day. The kids in RVN deserve remembering as veterans, too. They had it forced on them. Here's one of their toys.
The Bud can has a empty cartridge wound in a rubber band with a bamboo trigger. Pull the trigger and rat a tat tat you had an M-16. The pistol at the bottom of the pic is made of crate strapping or banding. Roll the spring mechanism back and put it under the handle. Put a stone on top and squeeze the handle and voila! A pistol that shoots stones. (These toys compliments of our interpreters who just loved the kids)
Maybe you've seen them. The toys of a war zone. That's a sad commentary on something! (No wonder they had no problems making booby traps.) They deserve status as vets, too, though.

I probably shouldn’t have used the term “status as vets” as it implies a military connotation and my train of thought was more in line with veterans of the war or just deserve remembering. Anyway, I’m sure most vets have memories of the locals. Looking at this photo on “Remembrance Day” put a smile on my face and brought back a few good ones yet caused me to ponder the plight of children in war zones. More memories.
I’m sure that for many of us out there, for good or for bad, Remembrance Day comes more than once a year.
It was certainly interesting for me to read the article. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to them. I would like to read a bit more on that blog soon.
I wish to be allowed to share a concept with you people United States Of America.
From the date of September 11, 2001 I have watched this Nation slowly die and this war has taken on a thought, a concept, that makes me feel unsafe.
I asked the big what if and why, and this is it, " Why do the people of the United States Of America grow weaker because if a dollar and the Arabic Drug Empire grows stronged to the point that now another 40,000 men and women of the United States Military is leaving for the war, why is there a hands off policy, that will not allow the destruction of these popy fields ?"
The people we are at war with seek the death of every last man, woman and child in the world in order so that their chosen few can re-populate the world.
These people such as this looked for bio- war fare within the shippment of their drugs to full fill the laws of their god.
This is so hard for my mind to understand that, why ? comes to me all the time.
