[Ed. comment: Ranger wrote these thoughts for RAW in August, but what a propitious moment to share them now, following the previous piece on rape (NOT this kind.) It is a certain man's point of view -- Ranger's, a man who stated, non-malificently and unawares, "Everyone wants more than one sex partner, right?" Please jump in and validate or differentiate, as is your inclination.]
In the war of the sexes, women say that what rings their bells is that sex be safe and protective. Their claim that sex be about candles and soft bedding is used to beat men into sexual subservience, but this is not what sex is about.
Sex is not about safety or warmth, it is about sex. Sex just plain and simple. It's not about feelings of warmth but rather, spreading the seeds. Men do not need to be comfortable. We do not need to feel secure or any of that stuff. We just need to deliver the goods, and then we may provide security, if the we think the benefits of sticking around outweigh the benefits of leaving. This is not always an easy call.
Sex is not about security. It is about danger, intrusion, stealth and strength. It is the thrill of the hunt. We are watching the perimeter, securing the cave and preparing to go hunt, build the fire and sharpen the spears. If nature wanted sex to be about security, our sex organs would be on the other side of our body so that four eyes would be pointed in 360 degrees for safety and alertness.
When Ranger hears women bemoaning not getting reassurances of safety from men, he wonders if the whole ball of wax (WACS?) is worth the effort.
Nature has provided women with the security but man sure has been shortchanged in the evolutionary effort.
It is Ranger's contention that when women describe their ideal warm and cuddly man, they are actually describing the attributes of another women. How can a man be both?
Has society destroyed our evolutionary function qua men?

And ... GD, interestingly, it is this song (Mary Chapin Carpenter version) which I sometimes front, in response.
Relationships needn't be so fraught, if we'd all say what's what, and what we need and what we can give ... at least, ISTM.
Just wait for the perfect androids to be produced. Then where will women be ? I suspect getting a lil more humility and perspective once they are no longer sought after other than for offspring. Then too cloning will probably replace this aspect. Then women will be truley no different than men, albeit disadvantiged for size and strength.

See The Handmaid's Tale (Tail?). Huxley in Brave New World already pegged our society, IMHO, when he spoke of "pneumatic" women and "orgy-porgies".
This topic deserves an expanded treatment. While Ranger is correct in the observation that sex is sex, for females -- as the generally smaller and disadvantaged member (motherhood demands a great deal of energy) -- sex becomes much more.
The way in which a male approaches sex indicates his fitness as a potential mate, and so her behavior is pegged to capturing her "prey" (= male provider).
The differing agendas ... literally, faces looking in both directions ... is the root of much misery, as both must play like they are fitting into the others construction (when they are often at cross-purposed, i.e., he, to escape; she, to capture.)
Just look at the words in perfume advertising to see the whole ball of wax: "Seduction", "Captivating", "Allure" ... "if you want want to capture someone's attention, whisper." Man's fragrances are all about "Cool Water", canoeing away, and
basically being able to engage and disengage. He will play the Lone Ranger as long as he can, until he morphs into The Eagle's Desperado.
I think no one finds a late Hugh Hefner to be an admirable figure.

Down sofa-beds are warm, cuddly and to a great degree agreeable. Down sofa-beds are predominant in the level of warmth they give. No man-made material can hold a light to down concerning warmth. There are varying levels of warmth and quality. If you interest more please visit Cuddly warm
