American Legion Quislings

A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government
--Edward Abbey

The American Legion supported Bush and his policies, an administration which cares little for the needs of disposable assets such as the troops after their purpose is served, but it is the democratic Congress that is re-instituting dialog with veterans groups, providing a forum for veterans issues.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reinstated the tradition of allowing the American Legion to deliver "annual budget recommendations and legislative agendas before a joint session of the House and Senate Veterans Affairs committees" (American Legion Magazine, 3/07, p.56.)

In 2006, this longstanding practice of the annual hearing was unceremoniously scrapped by the Republican-led Congress.
Re-institutiing this address will allow concerns from the major veterans groups to be heard, thus furthering veterans interests and issues.

Why doesn't the American Legion advertise the fact that the Republicans didn't give a damn for veterans concerns, even after our quisling American Legion leaders delivered the votes to the republican leaders?
