Indeed.

Hear, hear.
Ranger, although I support repeal of DADT, I think this is a cheap shot. It's not as if our president hasn't been just a tad busy doing things, like, you know, saving the world economy and grappling with horseshit wars he inherited.
This guy has been in office not quite five months. How about giving a little credit to his predecessor (and that guy's predecessor, Mr Wonderful) as well as the Congress—which will actually have to repeal the law—for this misbegotten law?
Publius,
This is a cheap shot but i'll take it any way.
Obama is playing politics with this issue and is being a dissasembler on the topic.

OK, this is gonna make me post here.
Obviously.
I can see both points, Publius' and Ranger's on DADT.
But there's a further issue concerning DOMA where the administration really blew it. Implying that gays marrying ( whether you're for or against it ) is like incest or pedophilia.
Obama can't be too busy to take care of his most fervent supporters, to throw them a bone or two once in a while to keep 'em happy, if he won't be that "fierce advocate" for gay rights he claimed to be during the campaign.
Check out any of the gay sites, like Aravosis' Americablog. They are not happy campers.
..
Got to weigh in with a passing 2 cents worth...
A few moments taken by the new President in undoing DADT with an executive order would be time well spent. Congress isn't the CiC.
DOMA appears to be on the way to irrelevance state by state, although I suppose the Supremes should weigh in just in case anyone really doesn't 'get it'.
Basil and Paul,
Getting rid of DADT is not throwing a bone to anyone. It would be granting human dignity and constitutional rights on to a significant sector of society.
Paul, yes Obama is C in C and could instuitute a new policy IF HE HAD A SET OF BALLS.
My disconnect with DADT is that it is based in obsolete religious beliefs and not based in legal thought. This is a violation of church and state IMHO. BTW the churches of America did a great job justifying slavery back in the day. I fear and dislike church policies since they are so hateful in the long run.
