I could have howled at WaPo columnist Ruth Marcus's encomium to Tiger Woods yesterday in which she pitted him against the Salahi White House gate-crashers ("Crash and do not tell").
Her sycophancy is more than I can bear: "Tiger, don't say anything. Not another word. The future of civilization -- such as it is -- depends on it." Given two bad behaviors, one need not be the lesser. In fact, I would say Mr. Wood's transgression trumps the rather pathetic celebrity-seeking action of the Salahis.
Says Marcus, "Woods is the converse of the loathsome White House party-crashers", "delicately" referring to his "single-car accident". She continues, "If he were a public figure accused of a crime," she would allow for the situation's exploration. Well Mrs. Marcus, adultery is a crime, so Tiger's woody becomes news, ex post facto.
No, this is not really news. But it is is a sad state of affairs when a demurring adulterer becomes cause for celebration.

an apache girl would have brought the purenty damdam down around him, then she would whip out her cell phone and call a couple uncles...

You mentioned Apache girl, then I read your profile. I had a friend who is White Mountain Apache and, as a young man, I spent time fishing on the White River and running around with my buddy's people on the rez. Beautiful country and wonderful culture. I have always felt priveledged to have participated in some of the ceremonies.
But you sure are right about those Apache girls.........look out!

Ms Marcus and the Washington Post may be bleeding for Tiger Woods, but justice is being served by the hilariously Photoshoped Mr. and Mrs. Tiger Woods Christmas card flying around the internet. It's also a well known fact that the 19th 'hoe' for a golfer can lead to an increased chance of automobile accidents.

There's to much of celebrity watching. Yes it's illegal and he could lose 100m in Endorsement but who gives a F(&%. This is what the public and media worry about while their rights are taken away and pockets are emptied.

Couldn't agree more on our voracious appetite for salacious entertainment, but puh-leeze: when a silently adulterous golfer is cause for celebration, I'm ready to sign off on my membership.
