Not a Good Thing
If the 2006 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) is correct, and the War in Iraq is a force multiplier for the radical Islamists, then why are U.S. forces fighting and dying there? To warp Martha Stewart's platitude, this is not a good thing.
If the President were performing his Constitutional duties to America, a realistic policy per the Intelligence Estimate would be the removal of U.S. troops from Iraqi combat. Of course, if Bush's policy is based upon corporate policy and fomenting fear amongst our citizens--the better to control them with--then by all means, let's stay the course. And after all, the consensus of all U.S. intelligence agencies must be wrong, since Mr. Bush tells us so. As we say in the South, God bless him, he means well.
I wonder why was this was the only NIE issued on the topic of terrorism since 2002? If terrorism is so important, why wait three years to address the intelligence estimates of this so-called war?
