RANGER AGAINST WAR: Land of Confusion <

Land of Confusion

Ooh superman where are you now
When everything's gone wrong somehow

The men of steel, the men of power

Are losing control by the hour.
--Land of Confusion, Genesis

A moment of discombobulation recently on the Op-Ed page of the
Wall Street Journal ("A Heavier Iraq Footprint".)

Within one paragraph came the following conflicting concepts:

"(Mr. Maliki's) political alliance with radical Shiite Moqtada al-Sadr is a problem..."

later, same paragraph:

"One goal of any larger deployment would be precisely to bolster the forces of Shiite moderation against al-Sadr."

Does anyone realize that this is a schizophrenic mission, aimed at both supporting and weakening the Prime Minister?

Yessir, Ranger. I think it's symbolic of the overall "command vision" for this war, which is to fight rather than to win. And I write about it once in awhile; here, for instance:
