Europe is More Fun than Dentists
People, don't you understand
The child needs a helping hand
Or he'll grow to be an angry young man some day
--In the Ghetto, Scott Davis
Ignore your teeth and they'll go away

If you are a kid in Florida on Medicaid, good luck getting to see a doctor.
1.6 million children covered under Medicare in the state have no access to medical care, and Governor Crist, like his predecessor Jeb Bush, is hoping the issue will go away.
For this reason, the Florida Pediatric Society and the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry have filed a class action lawsuit against the state on behalf of those children denied medical care in violation of Federal law, which stipulates care should be "prompt, complete, and if necessary, continuing." The State moved to dismiss the suit in 2005, but the judge ruled in January of 2007 that the plaintiffs have a right to sue. The case is expected to go to trial in June 2009.
Former State Senator and representative for Florida Pediatric Society John Grant says Governor Crist "Really doesn't care" about these children's lack of access to medical care. Crist postponed scheduled meetings with representatives from the medical groups twice before leaving on his European junket two weeks ago.
Half a million kids on Medicaid received no preventative health care at all in 2007. Many doctors decline to see new Medicaid patients as Medicaid has not increased the amount is reimburses doctors for their services since 1992. General practitioners recoup about one-third of their fees; dentists, about 25%. Florida ranks 48th out of 50 in its dental coverage for this population.
Dr. Peter Claussen, the only dentist in Pensacola who sees pediatric Medicaid patients, says he does it because he himself can remember going to bed with toothaches. "That's just not fun," he said. Though he sees about 20 new Medicaid patients a week, his staff tells him that maybe double that amount are also turned away.
A New York Times article says the lack of dental care is not just restricted to the poor and their children. "Experts on oral health say about 100 million Americans — including many adults who work and have incomes above the poverty line — are without access to care." That means about one-third of your fellow Americans go without dental care.
Just to give some perspective on the State of the State for those who are not yet old enough to wear BDU's.

It makes my blood boil! It has yet to decline this far in New Mexico...yet I fear if some things don't change soon, they will.
Michael Moore (of "Fahrenheit 9/11", & "Bowling for Columbine" fame/infamy) had some pointed things to say about the state of health care in America in his recent film "Sicko". While I don't agree with EVERYTHING Mr. Moore has to say, I think he hits the nail on the head for the most part.
Frontline (on PBS) also did a fantastic expose on the American health care system... (www.pbs.org/frontline/shows/hmo/).
Y'all have a good weekend.
Peace, joy, liberty...The Mad Celt

RARAW...
"You can protect your liberties in this world only by protecting the other man's freedom. You can be free only if I am free."
-Clarence Darrow
I wonder what Mr. Imus (a Marine Corps veteran) would have to say about RARAW using his image to front his defamatory and sophomoric quips?
Isn't Imus pretty much on the same level? maybe he Is Imus.
Rick...Mr. Imus is by no means on the same level. Yes, he is very controversial...oft times inappropriate...but he stands by what he says, and if he must make a retraction, he does so with honor. I know many folks do not appreciate Mr. Imus (likewise with Jim and Lisa), but they are all alike in the respect that they take whole credit for whatever they say. I will shed my last drop of blood for those who stand by what they say and are not ashamed to say it...even if it is to their detriment. Liberty is for all...not the few.
mad celt and rick, the raraw issue will resolve itself.he has overloaded his ass with cmts about playing with homemade explosives and he's clearly stated that drugs are better than sex.i assume he is referring to self administered variety, but drugs are an issue here.RAW does not espouse drug useage and we've so informed Arkamite in personal email., nor do we espouse illegal use or even talking about illegal explosives.
in addition on his arkamite blog site he proudly displays A MEDAL OF HONOR. what's this all about?
Dealing with this idiot is not a freedom of speech issue-it's now an interpretation of Florida and federal cyber stalking laws.in addition libel is now a civil issue this Ranger will explore with my atty. I have several avenues of approach to this objective.my manuever elements are on the move as we speak. jim
Sad news to read does not begin to describe it; I worry for a friend IN Florida whose child needs some pretty immediate care for a spinal problem. As her husband lost his job recently...they need the state health plan for kids to work!
::::nailing up "Don't feed the trolls sign as I leave::::
ooo more threats...let's fight.
here's my secret weakness, my kryptonite if you will: all you have to do is report me to my isp (comcast) and if they find that i have violated my terms of service, which i do constantly here, they will cancel my account forthwith. that is, if you want to silence me, you don't need an attorney.
so pick up the phone and call comcast, you fucking jarhead numbnuts asswipe. you suck, your blog sucks, and the united states military is a trash compactor for keeping murderous morons like you out of the general population. obviously in your case it didn't work. but maybe you can take care of me without even informing my isp using some of those special forces tactics you tout so highly.
i may talk shit, but at least i'm not a trained killer like you. god help this country if the soldiers coming home from this war are anything like you or the lovely senator from arizona.
in conclusion, you, your attorney, and your government can kiss my ass. there is no law that has ever been made that can silence arkhamite.
LOL RARAW LIBELLED RAW FOR GREAT JUSTICE
