Ranger recently saw a USMC recruiting advertisement on t.v. It said, "We don't make compromises; We make Marines." Just then, an artillery strike hits the screen.
The message: Drop a strike on someone and you've solved a problem; you've become a Marine, a U.S. military man. You have not compromised. . .but what have you "not compromised"?
If only life were so simple.

Ranger comment- i could not pass this photo - it says it all . COIN is a joke and this soldier summed it up perfectly.WAIT FOR THE FLASH.we could have called this one FLASHMAN but here you have it- our tax dollars hard at work alienating the Iraqis we so love. jim

I love him, too! No one like a Russian author to ponder matters of existence in a harsh world.
The entire Right-Wing philosphy is based on black/white, right/wrong, good/evil. Something a four-year old can fully grasp. Everything is simple...anyone who thinks otherwise is to be viewed with suspicion.
Also... my righty acquaintances, at least the male ones, think the FLASH pic is hilarious.

the older i get the more i realize that cute things like this photo are NOT in fact cute.It's really easy to pass this off as humor but it's deeply cynical and depraved.if a unit commander does not catch this point then COIN doesn't have a prayer.

In broad terms I think a person goes fown one of two paths as s/he ages: either they grow and expand with the years or they shrink and narrow. Pretty clear which path the fanatics of the world choose.

Some people start out narrow and shrunken and get worse.They never consider another viewpoint which is the basic fault with our present day America.Both sides seem to shrink rather than expand. Some of our politicians claim otherwise but it's simply marketing. jim
